This web site has been written to support the Longbridge/Northfield
Consortium of Schools based in the South of Birmingham. All the
schools involved in the Consortium can be seen on our Consortium
Schools page.
It forms part of our drive to remove ‘barriers
to learning’ under the Excellence in Cities (EiC) initiative.
Each consortium of schools within Birmingham has
access to a small amount of funding through EiC with specific guidelines
for valid expenditure. We, in Longbridge/Northfield chose to develop
Information Communication Technology within several strands. These
included the provision of laptops and data projectors for each participating
school along with interactive whiteboards thus enabling ICT to be
used in classrooms supporting various curriculum subjects.
The sharing of expertise through consortium training
has also been a feature of our annual conferences.
This web site forms the third strand and has been
developed to share good practice, ideas, and useful curriculum resources
between our schools. Contributions from nursery, infant, junior
and special school sectors are included, supporting up to the end
of National Curriculum Key Stage 2.
The demands of the curriculum are common to us all
and if we can support each other by making resources available across
schools the curriculum will be enhanced for us all. The core group
of practitioners listed on the contact us page have worked hard
to make this dream a reality, coordinating and reviewing much of
the content of the site.
Please do let us have your comments, thoughts and
contributions so that we can add to our ever-increasing library
of resources for the benefit of us all.
